Caricatures

My passion in life is for design and anything which requires attention to detail and creativity which I use not only in my day to day employment but also within my caricature drawing hobby. I have created commissioned caricatures and I have featured for a whole season in the official match day programmes for both Sheffield United FC and Brentford FC. I have also had famous endorsements from the likes of Paul Gascoigne, Chris Waddle, Tony Currie and Ryan Rhodes amongst others, the signed celebrity caricatures have been auctioned for charity.

3D Photoshop Skills & Manipulation

One of my main strengths is creating 3D visual effects and bespoke images to suit the project brief, an example is shown below where I was requested to create an image warning of the rise in online cyber criminal activity. Our company try to avoid using the same stock images that competitors on issues such as these so in this instance I used four free stock images and a little creativity. The top four royalty free stock images have had elements combined using various Photoshop skills to create the cyber criminal image with a dispersion effect in the main image.

Photography

I also worked part time as a wedding photographer, I would not class myself as a professional photographer as I worked more on the editing and after effects, but I do still have a keen eye for photography and can pick good angles and as I have mentioned previously I am proficient with Adobe Lightroom. In my current employment I have organised a whole new stock image collection since the photos we need have to meet certain electrical regulation requirements. A lot of our digital and printed literature now features these photographs.

About Me

I am a creative graphic designer who began using Adobe Photoshop back in 2008 to enhance my hobby of hand drawn caricatures into the modern digital world. At the time I was working in an admin role so this was a side interest to start with but over the years I used it for various other design projects including packaging concepts and approx. 100-200 leaflet designs over a few years for a music promotion company based in Sheffield.

I decided to make a career switch to Graphic Design in 2014, and joined a large crafting company which is part of the Ideal World shopping channel network where I was able to put my creative flair into great use and was involved with some large name brands such as Disney, Marvel, Tattered Lace, and Warner Bros. In addition to learning Photoshop I developed my design skills into other Adobe programmes including Light-room, Illustrator, InDesign and most recently, After Effects and Premier Pro.

Due to a change of ownership at our head office in 2018, several department closures and redundancies followed which unfortunately included the area I worked. I left in October 2018 and joined a leading UK electrical regulation company called NAPIT as an in-house graphic designer. I create email banners, website banners, social media posts, pull up banners, leaflets, booklets, the quarterly 60+ page members magazine, and signs for our trade events amongst other items.

I adapt quickly to new situations and find new software programmes easy to learn and will continue to develop my skills looking into more video work and animation next.

From my administration and customer service background prior to my career in design. I am fully proficient in using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Magento, JShop, Sagepay, Dropbox, Outlook, Excel, Google Drive and Lotus Notes amongst others.
